Major delays are continuing on the M6 this evening following a lorry crash across the carriageway. The M6 northbound between junctions 32 and 33 was closed as a result of the incident for more than 14 hours.
Recovery of the vehicle has been under way since the early hours and the motorway reopened at around 4.40pm. There is still five miles of congestion and delays of around 30 minutes in the area.
National Highways reports: All lanes are now open on the #M6 northbound between J32 #Preston and J33 #Hampson following an earlier overturned vehicle. Delays of 30 mins remain and approx. 5 miles of congestion. Please allow extra time if traveling in the area.”

An update from traffic monitoring service Inrix at 5.04am said: “Severe delays and queueing traffic due to earlier overturned vehicle on M6 Northbound from J32 M55 (Broughton Interchange) to J33 A6 Preston Lancaster Road (Lancaster South/Garstang). Congestion to J28 ( Leyland).
“Also seeing severe delays delays through Leyland, Lostock Hall, Preston, Fulwood and all routes through Broughton heading towards Lancaster. All lanes have been re-opened.
‘The road was closed at around 02:30 Friday morning reopened at around 16:40. Affecting traffic between Preston and Lancaster.’
