Oleksandr Usyk looks ‘massive’ in new training photos and is now becoming a ‘proper heavyweight’ as he prepares for Anthony Joshua rematch now date is set

Oleksandr Usyk’s has posted a pair of new training photos which seems to show he has adjusted to life as a heavyweight with ease.

The Ukrainian won the WBA, IBF and WBO titles when he shocked large portions of the boxing world last year by outboxing and dethroned Anthony Joshua.

The pair are now have now officially announced their rematch.

This will take place on August 20 in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia.

Two months out from the fight, Usyk has been training away in Dubai and appears to have put on additional weight.

Prior to his move up, the Ukrainian was undisputed cruiserweight champion.

Not many believed he would be able to emulate Evander Holyfield and David Haye by jumping up into boxing’s biggest division due to his natural size disadvantage.

However, Usyk proved the doubters wrong once in his first fight with AJ and has now been described as a ‘fully fledged heavyweight’ as he prepares to do the same again.

“Usyk looking massive,” read one comment on his new photos.

Another added: “Building to a proper slick heavyweight.”

This was a recurring theme in the replies as someone else put: “He’s a fully fledged heavyweight now, real deal.”

A fourth commenter made his prediction for the fight as he said: “Definitely breaking AJ down and retiring him on his stool within ten.”

One Joshua supporter wrote: “Jesus, he looks MASSIVE. I’m rooting for AJ but holy s***.”

And a second put: “I don’t want to ever watch this match, I’m so scared for Joshua.”

In contrast though, one fan put forward another theory as he said: “He’s playing right into AJ’s hands with him gaining weight. He will be slower.”

Time will tell how the rematch pans out and whether Usyk’s size will play to his advantage or disadvantage.
