Plans have been put forward to turn the dormant Natwest building on Riverway Industrial Estate in Newport into a GP practice.
It would see the top floor of the building turned into a GP practice helping to meet the demands of the local healthcare service.
Assura – the company behind the plans – build, invest and manage General Practitioner and primary care buildings across the UK.
The changes are only internal, and will not affect the outside of the building, car park or greenery behind the premises.
The proposed site is on the outskirts instead of not directly in the center of Newport – unlike surgeries on West Street and Pyle Street – therefore meaning that ideally, a car would be needed to access it.
If approved the new surgery would help alleviate some of the pressure that the Island’s healthcare provisions have recently been under.
